Taprooms and brewpubs across 12 Colorado cities where dogs are welcome on the patio, and the shorter list where they can come inside. Each card says which, and whether the brewery confirmed it.

Whether a dog can join you at a taproom comes down to food rules, not liquor rules. The Colorado Retail Food Establishment Rules (6 CCR 1010-2) follow the FDA Food Code: live animals stay out of food establishments except service animals, with one exception for dogs in outdoor dining areas the local regulatory authority approves. In 2019 CDPHE published statewide variance criteria that let a business apply to its local public health agency for patio dogs. The conditions are the ones posted on gates: dogs stay out of the interior, reach the patio through their own entrance, waste bags and a bin are on hand, and staff do not touch the dogs. A 2020 bill to make it statute (SB20-078) never passed, so counties run the variance their own way.
Denver is the strictest written example. Under the Denver Retail Food Establishment Rules (§8-106(D)) a dog patio must be unroofed, unscreened and reachable by a gate from the sidewalk. Patios under 400 square feet get no table service, which is why so many Denver taprooms are order-at-the-bar; larger patios get table service only if at least half the space is a separately gated dog-free section. Dogs must be leashed, wearing current tags and off the seats.
Inside is different. A taproom serving nothing beyond packaged snacks is often not a full retail food establishment, and the local health agency may allow dogs indoors at its discretion. That is why Locavore Beer Works in Littleton welcomes dogs inside and on the front patio but not in its biergarten, while Ratio Beerworks' Overland taproom in Denver is patio only. We list indoor ok and patio as separate tags, confirmed from the brewery's own page; when we could not confirm, the card says call ahead.

Every card states its dog policy and whether a primary source confirmed it; unconfirmed listings say "call ahead". Businesses marked "Featured" pay a fee for placement. Payment does not affect what a listing says about its dog policy, and we do not rank Featured listings by quality. Add or correct a listing.

Sometimes. Colorado's food rules keep pets out of the interior of a retail food establishment, but a taproom that serves no prepared food may be allowed to admit dogs indoors by its local health agency. It is decided venue by venue, so look for the indoor ok tag on a listing and call ahead if the card says the policy is unconfirmed.
Each location holds its own health-department approval and has its own patio layout. A patio with a sidewalk gate and no roof can qualify; one reached only through the dining room cannot. Kitchens, food trucks parked inside the fence and table service all change what the local rules allow, so policies differ between locations of the same brand.
Yes in practice. Denver's patio rule requires leashed dogs with current vaccination tags, kept off furniture and away from service stations, and the CDPHE variance conditions other counties use are similar. Every one of the 12 cities on this site also has a general leash law that applies the moment you step onto the sidewalk.
Yes. Under the ADA and Colorado law a service dog trained to perform a task for a person with a disability must be allowed inside, and staff may ask only whether it is a service animal and what task it performs. Emotional-support animals are not service animals and are treated as pets: patio only, where the venue allows it.
