Dog-Friendly Breweries in Denver
Most Denver taprooms keep dogs on the patio, and the city's health rules explain why, so here is who allows what.
Denver is a patio town for dogs. Ratio Beerworks says it plainly in its FAQ: dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio at both the RiNo and Overland taprooms, and only service animals come inside. Cerebral Brewing applies the same patio-only rule at Congress Park and West Highland. The exceptions are worth knowing: River North Brewery's north taproom on Washington Street describes itself as a dog-friendly taproom and patio, Woods Boss built a dedicated dog parklet beside its picnic tables on California Street, and Bruz Off Fax puts out water and free treats at both of its taprooms.
The clusters are RiNo and Five Points (Ratio, River North, Woods Boss), the Highlands (Denver Beer Co. Platte Street, Cerebral West Highland) and the west side near Sloan's Lake (Odell's brewhouse with its rooftop patio, Strange Craft's biergarten on Zuni).
The rule behind all of this is Denver's dogs-on-patios policy, DDPHE Retail Food Establishment Rules §8-106(D). A dog-eligible patio has to be unroofed, reached through its own gate from the sidewalk rather than through the taproom, and dogs must be leashed, wearing current vaccination tags and kept off chairs and tables. Everywhere else, DRMC §8-16 means a leash.
