- water access
Summit County's listed campgrounds all ring Dillon Reservoir, and none of them publishes its own pet rule.
Every campground on this page is a White River National Forest site on Dillon Reservoir, reserved through recreation.gov. On the Frisco side, Peak One has 80 sites on the Peninsula Recreation Area with drinking water and no electric, and Pine Cove just past it is smaller and more open at $29 a night. Along Dillon Dam Road, Heaton Bay has 87 sites with some electric hookups at $31. On the Swan Mountain side, Prospector is the largest at 105 sites, and Lowry, at 9,320 feet, has 27 sites with electric at sites 2 through 24.
Here is the honest gap: dogs are generally allowed at national forest campgrounds, but none of these five publishes a pet rule on its own pages, so each card is marked unconfirmed. Federal rules for developed sites require a leash no longer than six feet, and Frisco enforces its leash law on the Peninsula trails. Confirm on recreation.gov before you drive up.
Outside the campgrounds, unincorporated Summit County allows voice control within ten feet, though a six-foot leash rule was under review in 2024. Nights near 9,000 feet are cold even in July; pack a dog layer.

Generally yes, as at most White River National Forest campgrounds, but none of the five listed here publishes its own pet rule, so we mark them unconfirmed. US Forest Service rules for developed sites require a leash no longer than six feet. Check recreation.gov for the specific campground before booking.
Lowry Campground has electric at sites 2 through 24, reservation-only, and Heaton Bay offers some electric hookups for an extra fee. Peak One, Pine Cove and Prospector have no electric. All five are on Dillon Reservoir between Frisco, Dillon and Keystone.
Inside the campgrounds, no; federal rules cap leashes at six feet in developed sites. Frisco's Peninsula Recreation Area trails are leash-only under town law. In unincorporated Summit County outside town limits, voice control within ten feet is allowed, though a six-foot rule was under review in 2024.
