Prospector is the largest campground on Dillon Reservoir, with 105 sites off Swan Mountain Road between Frisco and Keystone. The Forest Service lists a $29 nightly fee, vault toilets, picnic tables and fire rings, no electric hookups, and reservations through recreation.gov. As of its 2026 update the well was dry and there was no water at the campground, so bring plenty. Sapphire Point Overlook and its short loop trail are just up the road. Roads and spurs are unpaved, and dirt-road access keeps it a little quieter than Heaton Bay.
