Dog-Friendly Campgrounds near Golden

Golden has an in-town RV park on the creek and a state park up the canyon, with different leash and tent rules at each.

Clear Creek RV Park is the City of Golden's own campground, wedged between Clear Creek and 10th Street within walking distance of Washington Avenue's dog-friendly patios. It has 22 full-hookup sites, 11 electric-only sites and a few tent sites. Leashed dogs are welcome at RV sites and may not be left unattended outside, but pets are not allowed in the tent sites, and aggressive dogs may be asked to leave. Golden's Ordinance 2182 keeps dogs leashed along the creek itself.

Golden Gate Canyon State Park, about 30 minutes up Golden Gate Canyon Road, spreads 117 sites between Reverend's Ridge, which has electric sites, showers and year-round access, and the tent-oriented Aspen Meadows. Colorado Parks and Wildlife's rule applies: leash no longer than six feet at all times, never unattended, and dogs allowed in campgrounds, picnic areas and designated trails. Select cabins and yurts accept pets for $10 per night.
