Dog-Friendly Restaurants & Patios in Golden

Golden's confirmed dog patios are downtown within a block of Clear Creek; two more at the edges need a phone call.

The Golden Mill, the food hall in an 1860s feed mill a block from the Coors brewery, is the clearest case: friendly, leashed dogs are allowed in the creek-side yard along Clear Creek, with water bowls, but not inside and not on the rooftop patio. With a self-pour beer wall and several food vendors, it handles mixed groups well. Old Capitol Grill & Smokehouse on Washington Avenue, in the building that once housed the territorial legislature, states plainly that its patios are dog friendly.

Two others are Visit Golden picks that the businesses themselves have not confirmed: Trailhead Taphouse & Kitchen at 12th and Miners Alley, and Cast Iron Tavern in the Canyon Point center at the base of North Table Mountain. Call ahead for both.

Clear Creek is the town's summer dog-swimming spot, but Ordinance 2182 requires leashes along the corridor and in every city park, so the walk from the creek to the patio stays on lead.

Questions about dog-friendly restaurants & patios in Golden

Can dogs go inside The Golden Mill?

No. The Golden Mill allows friendly, well-behaved leashed dogs in its creek-side yard only; dogs are not permitted inside the food hall or on the rooftop patio. Water bowls are provided in the yard, which sits right along Clear Creek.

Are leashes required along Clear Creek in Golden?

Yes. Golden's Clear Creek Corridor rules under Ordinance 2182 say to keep dogs on leash, and the city's park rules require leashes at all times in any city park or trail. Dogs can get in the water, but owners stay on the bank with the leash.

Which Golden restaurant patios are unconfirmed?

Trailhead Taphouse and Kitchen and Cast Iron Tavern are both named by Visit Golden as dog-friendly, but neither publishes a policy on its own site, so we list them as unconfirmed. The Golden Mill and Old Capitol Grill and Smokehouse have confirmed policies.
