Dog Parks in Golden

Golden's off-leash options are two fenced parks inside city sports complexes, free and both with dog hydration stations.

Golden keeps dogs on leash in every city park and trail, with two exceptions, both tucked inside larger sports complexes. Tony Grampsas Dog Park is in the 63-acre Tony Grampsas Memorial Sports Complex on Salvia Street, on the east side of North Table Mountain. It is fenced, free, and the city's park page lists a dog-friendly hydration station; it is the main place in town to let a dog really run. Ulysses Dog Park sits inside the Ulysses Sports Complex on a mesa above south Golden, fenced, free, and recently overhauled with new restrooms and a dog hydration station.

Outside the fences, the rule is simple: leash on. That applies to the Clear Creek corridor under Ordinance 2182 and to every Jefferson County Open Space trail around Golden, where the leash must be ten feet or shorter and an off-leash ticket is $75. Lookout Mountain Nature Preserve is posted hiker only, so treat it as no dogs.

Golden requires licenses for dogs four months and older through Foothills Animal Shelter, which is physically in Golden on McIntyre Street.
