Bear Creek Dog Park is the big one for the Pikes Peak region: 25 fenced acres on the north side of Bear Creek Regional Park, with a main parking lot at the northwest corner of 21st Street and West Rio Grande. A three-quarter-mile primary loop and side trails cross open prairie, hills and woods, and dogs get about a third of a mile of Bear Creek to wade in. A separate two-acre area is set aside for small and senior dogs. The county provides dog drinking fountains, a dog wash station, restrooms, waste bags and an agility area. Rules require spayed or neutered, vaccinated dogs over four months, handlers 18 or older, and no glass or alcohol.
