Carter Park Dog Park

Dog park in Breckenridge & Summit County, Colorado

Dog policy

Fenced off-leash dog park, free, with a separate small-dog area; dogs must be leashed elsewhere in town.

Confirmed from the business's or agency's own published policy · last checked 2026-10-24.

Carter Park is Breckenridge's only official off-leash spot, four blocks east of Main Street at the south end of High Street. The town's recreation department describes close to one acre of fenced space with a small-dog section, free to use and open around the clock, though it is not lighted. Everywhere else inside town limits dogs must be leashed, including the rec path, so this is where locals let them run. The Moonstone and Sunbeam trails leave from the same park for a leashed walk afterward. The surface is dirt and grass and gets muddy after storms.
