North Boulder's go-to off-leash spot is inside the 65-acre Foothills Community Park at the top of Cherry Avenue, right against the foothills with direct access to Open Space and Mountain Parks trails. The city lists a two-acre fenced dog park split into a roughly 1.6-acre large-dog side and a half-acre small-dog side. It is free, open dawn to dusk, and surrounded by the rest of the park's amenities: restrooms, shelters, a popular playground, community gardens and sports fields. Sledding is allowed on the grassy hills in winter. Dogs must be leashed once outside the fence, and the city asks guardians to stay attentive and manage their dogs' behavior inside.
