North Table Mountain is the flat-topped mesa over Golden, and its 7.4-mile loop climbs the steep west service road (the 600-foot grunt comes in the first mile) before circling the rim with views of Golden, the Divide and downtown Denver. It is multi-use and very popular with cyclists, so leash control on the climb matters. Jeffco's 10-foot leash rule applies and the park has an on-trail-only rule to protect nesting raptors and rattlesnake habitat, both of which are abundant. There is no shade on top; in summer start at dawn. A shorter out-and-back to the rim suits most dogs.
