Deer Creek Canyon is the south metro's foothills go-to, and the Meadowlark–Plymouth Creek loop is the right-sized dog version: up the hiker-only Meadowlark Trail through scrub oak and ponderosa, back down the rockier multi-use Plymouth Creek Trail, about 3.8 miles and 1,100 feet. Meadowlark bans bikes, which makes the climb peaceful; the descent shares with riders tackling "The Wall." Jefferson County's 10-foot leash rule applies, and rangers write tickets. Rattlesnakes are a real presence from April on, and the lower slopes bake in summer. Through late 2026 Jeffco is rebuilding culverts, so one leg or the other may be closed on weekdays.

Friendly dogs are welcome inside the main taproom and on the front patio; the grassy backyard biergarten is a no-dog zone, and persistently barking dogs may be asked to step outside.
