Arthur's Rock is the Lory State Park classic: 1.7 miles and about 1,200 feet up a shaded gulch, then across an open shoulder to a granite knob with a view over Horsetooth Reservoir and Fort Collins. It is hikers-only, which keeps it calmer than the Horsetooth Mountain trails next door, and CPW allows leashed dogs the whole way. The final 30 feet are a rock scramble; most dogs manage it but short-legged ones will want a boost or a stop at the base. Summer afternoons are hot on the upper half. The park closes trails when muddy, so look at COTREX after spring storms.
