The 1.7-mile Trading Post Trail loops through the monoliths below the amphitheatre, dropping into a meadow and climbing back between 300-foot sandstone fins. It is the most scenic short dog hike in the west metro and shows it: busy on weekends and year-round with visitors. Denver Mountain Parks rules apply, so a six-foot leash and bag are required, and on concert days the whole park changes character by mid-afternoon. The trail has steps and rough sandstone, fine for most dogs, with little shade. Skip the Mount Morrison Trail across the road: Jefferson County bans dogs on it.
