PetSmart Dog Training – Lakewood
160 Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80226
Group and private training classes inside the store, taught with positive reinforcement.
- indoor ok
- PACFA licensed
Lakewood's listed trainers are two PetSmart in-store programs, which cover group classes well and leave specialist work to Denver trainers.
The PetSmart at Wadsworth and West 1st in central Lakewood runs weekly in-store training with the chain's accredited trainers, who build every class around positive reinforcement and split the program into group classes and private sessions. The Wheat Ridge PetSmart on Youngfield Street, just off I-70 at the Applewood exit, offers the same program for northwest Lakewood and Applewood. Both are tagged PACFA-licensed.
For reactivity, aggression or board-and-train, neither location is the answer, and we would rather point you to Denver's trainers, where in-home specialists such as Chill Out Dog Training and several metro-wide franchises list Lakewood and Jefferson County in their service areas. Colorado requires a PACFA license for any trainer who takes your dog in your absence; owner-present classes like PetSmart's do not trigger it.
Lakewood is a reasonable place to proof a recall legally: three fenced dog parks, with Forsberg-Iron Spring at the Green Mountain trailhead the largest. On the trails above it, Jefferson County Open Space requires a leash of ten feet or less. Published Front Range prices as of October 2026 run about $125 to $300 for a six-week group course.

Both the Wadsworth Boulevard store and the Wheat Ridge store on Youngfield run group classes for puppies and adult dogs plus private one-on-one sessions, taught in-store by accredited trainers using positive reinforcement. Both are tagged PACFA-licensed on this page.
Denver's list includes Chill Out Dog Training, an in-home service focused on reactive, aggressive and anxious dogs, and metro-wide in-home franchises that name Lakewood or Jefferson County in their service areas. The PetSmart programs are built for general manners, not behaviour cases.
PetSmart does not publish class prices on this page. Published Front Range ranges as of October 2026 run roughly $125 to $300 for a six-week group course and $55 to $150 an hour for private sessions. Confirm with the store before enrolling.
