Cherry Creek State Park's dog off-leash area is the big one for the south metro: Visit Aurora puts it at more than 100 acres of fenced fields, winding trails and creek access where dogs can swim. Colorado Parks and Wildlife sells a dedicated Dog Off-Leash Pass, $3 for a day or $25 for a year, covering a handler and up to three dogs, and that is on top of the regular park entry fee. Outside the off-leash area the park's leash rule applies. CPW posts occasional closures of the area for maintenance, so check the park page before driving over. Enter from South Parker Road in Aurora; the dog area is on the park's west side.
