Cheyenne Mountain State Park is the closest public campground to the city, 61 full-hookup and tent sites on the mountain's lower slopes, open year-round with reservations through CPW. Dogs are welcome at your site on a six-foot leash, never tied to trees or signs or left unattended, but trail access is limited: only Acorn Alley, Bobcat Way, Raccoon Ridge and the marked portion of Soaring Kestrel allow dogs, and the Limekiln trailhead is off limits to them. The two Meadow Campground cabins do not take pets. Sites run $21 to $41 a night plus a daily vehicle pass; showers and laundry close November through April.
