Mount Falcon has two personalities. From the West Trailhead in Indian Hills, the Castle and Meadow trails roll 2.6 miles through ponderosa and open meadow to the stone ruins of John Brisben Walker's 1909 mansion and a lookout tower with views over Denver, with only about 300 feet of gain. From the Morrison side, the same Castle Trail climbs 2,000 feet in 3.9 miles, a true dog workout with no shade. Both are leash-only under Jeffco rules and busy with bikes on weekends. The west side is the family-and-senior-dog choice; the east side is for fit dogs on cool mornings. No water on either.
