Boulder's dog-friendly stays include historic cottages at the Flatirons trailheads, and each one posts its fee and its conditions.
The Colorado Chautauqua Cottages on Baseline Road put you at the Flatirons trailheads, and the association publishes a full pet guide: dog-friendly cottages can be booked only by phone with at least 72 hours' notice, the fee is $25 a night for up to two dogs, and dogs may not be left unattended. Basecamp Boulder, on Arapahoe near Pearl Street, allows dogs in select rooms and in common areas on a leash, charges a one-time $45 per visit and likewise bars leaving dogs alone in rooms. Foot of the Mountain Motel, where Arapahoe meets the mouth of Boulder Canyon, keeps a limited number of pet-friendly rooms with a one-time, nonrefundable $20 cleaning fee; book one in advance.
The motel sits across the street from Boulder Creek and its path, next to Eben G. Fine Park, which makes for an easy leashed morning walk.
Visitors should know Boulder's trail rules before arriving. Many Open Space and Mountain Parks trails require a leash; others allow off-leash dogs only with a Voice and Sight tag, which costs out-of-county visitors $75. Check the OSMP dog regulations map for the specific Chautauqua trails.
