Choosing a groomer in Colorado Springs
The north side has the longest hours. The PetSmart grooming salon at Chapel Hills on North Academy opens at 7 am most days, books full grooms and matted-coat removal by appointment and takes walk-ins for nail grinds and teeth brushing; it is PACFA licensed and sits in the same building as a PetsHotel. Farther out in the pine country, Black Forest Dog Resort’s grooming side publishes baths from $45 and full grooms from $60, billed by time at about $60 an hour, and is convenient to tack onto a boarding stay.
Independents on the east side. Annie’s Pet Salon on Barnes Road grooms dogs of every size, with larger dogs handled by a two-person team to keep things calm and quick; it opens at 7:30 on weekdays and closes Sundays. Wag N’ Wash at Stetson Hills pairs first-come, first-served self-wash stations with an appointment salon, a practical stop after a red-dirt day on the west-side trails.
Mobile covers the whole Pikes Peak region. Barkbus sends a self-contained van to your door with all-in pricing for its signature bath, and separate charges for haircuts and de-shedding; enter your zip code on its site to confirm coverage, which varies by area. Mobile is the sensible route for a large or anxious dog that does not travel well on I-25.
Local rules worth knowing. City dog licences are issued through the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, and the city’s off-leash areas require dogs to be inoculated and licensed. Groomers here see a lot of cheatgrass and foxtail from June onward, especially from the Garden of the Gods and Red Rock Canyon dog runs, so ask for a paw and ear check with every groom in summer.
