Aurora daycare, one request

With only a handful of daycares inside the city limits, it helps to know up front whether you would also consider southeast Denver. Say so, and the request goes wider.

  • Free. No fee to ask, and nothing is booked through us.
  • Independent local businesses. The daycare providers in our Aurora directory, not a national booking line.
  • PACFA tag confirmed. Colorado licenses daycare as a boarding/training facility; we verify the Colorado Department of Agriculture record before a listing shows the tag.

Interview first

Camp Bow Wow Aurora requires a camper interview before any dog joins the yards. Tenaker admits dogs to group daycare only if they are spayed or neutered with current vaccines, does not take dogs under four months and asks for a vet note for dogs 13 and older. Expect to visit once before the first real day.

Vaccines

Rabies, DHPP and Bordetella are required, with canine influenza and leptospirosis commonly requested in group play since the 2023 respiratory wave. The July 2025 PACFA rule update obliges licensed facilities to keep vaccination records on file before dogs mix, so email the vet printout before the interview. The flu series takes three to four weeks to complete.

Choosing a daycare in Aurora

Two formats and a city that stretches a long way east.

Camp Bow Wow Aurora, off South Abilene near Iliff

The chain's Aurora camp runs all-day group play in indoor and outdoor yards, separates dogs by size and temperament, streams live webcams and interviews every new dog. Baths and nail trims are available, and the three-level group training programme means a young dog can do manners classes at the same place it plays. For central and southwest Aurora near I-225 this is the obvious first quote.

Tenaker, near Colfax and Chambers

Tenaker Pet Care Center is primarily a boarding facility, run by the same family since 1986 in a 23,000-square-foot climate-controlled building, but it offers group daycare to spayed or neutered, vaccinated dogs. The outdoor yard includes an agility course and a seasonal heated pool, and owners can watch on live webcams. For north Aurora and anyone commuting toward I-70 it is the closer option, and a dog that boards there for trips will already know the yard.

Aurora's rules and the 10-foot leash

Aurora allows a leash of up to 10 feet, longer than most metro cities, requires a licence for dogs over six months ($15 a year altered) and ended its pit-bull ban with Question 2D in November 2024. Daycares still set their own breed, size and intact-dog policies, so note those on the form. The Cherry Creek State Park off-leash area is Aurora's great weekend outlet, but it closes for maintenance some autumn weeks and needs a CPW pass, which is one reason weekday daycare fills.

Consider the Denver line

Southeast Aurora is minutes from a cluster of Denver daycares around Iliff, Quebec and Evans, including cage-free and kennel-free formats that Aurora does not yet have inside the city. If you live west of Chambers and would drive ten minutes for a different model, say so on the form; otherwise we keep the request to Aurora providers.

Addresses, hours and confirmed policies are in the Aurora dog daycare directory. The Aurora city hub covers the leash rule, licensing and Cherry Creek State Park.
