Vaccines and paperwork

Every Springs kennel we list asks for rabies, DHPP and Bordetella. Mountain Dogs goes further and requires leptospirosis too, and will not take unneutered males over six months. A Paw Above wants the records 72 hours before arrival, not at the door, and Black Forest Dog Resort asks for rabies, parvo, distemper and Bordetella documentation up front. Canine influenza is not universal here but is increasingly requested; the series takes three to four weeks to complete, so do not leave it to the week before.

What is included

Camp-style facilities (Camp Bow Wow Central, East and Monument) include all-day group play, an individual cabin with a cot and blanket, and medication at no charge. Kennel-style facilities such as A Paw Above say they give dogs at least an hour outside daily in turf yards, with paid walks on top. Drop-off windows are long on weekdays, often 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., but Sunday and holiday pickups shrink to a morning and a late-afternoon slot at most camps, and The Dog Stop runs 9 to 5 on weekends.

Choosing a kennel in Colorado Springs

Where the facilities are, and what matters locally.

North side versus east side versus Black Forest

The north end has the franchise density: Camp Bow Wow Central on Northpark Drive and the PetSmart PetsHotel at Chapel Hills, which is one of the few Springs stores with a staffed overnight wing and an on-call vet. The east side is kennel country: A Paw Above's 25-square-foot runs behind Dutch doors with solid dividers, and Mountain Dogs' 5,000-square-foot building on Juanita Street with two indoor and two outdoor yards. Out past the city limits, Black Forest Dog Resort gives every kennel an attached 12- or 16-foot outdoor run on acreage in the pines, handy for Monument and Falcon.

Flying out of COS

Two listings sit within a short drive of the Colorado Springs Airport: The Dog Stop on Newport Road and 4 Paws Country Kennels on an acre off I-25 on the south side. If you are driving to Denver International instead, allow for the I-25 crawl and choose a kennel with a late weekday pickup. Holiday weeks and the summer tourist season both fill the Springs kennels; the $6 seasonal surcharge at some camps marks the busy dates.

City rules worth knowing

City Code 6.7.107 keeps dogs leashed in every park and public place except the designated dog parks, and the city requires a licence through the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region ($20 a year altered, $35 intact). The city's off-leash areas also require dogs to be inoculated, licensed and not in breeding condition, which lines up with what kennels ask. 4 Paws is unusual in accepting all breeds with no restrictions; other facilities set their own breed and intact-dog policies, so mention your dog's status on the form.

Respiratory history

Colorado Springs has had canine-flu outbreaks before, and the 2023 statewide respiratory-illness wave hit high-social dogs hardest. That is why the stricter kennels here require five vaccines rather than three. Ask how the kennel isolates a coughing dog and whether it has turned away a dog in the past year; a straight answer is a good sign.

Every kennel above, with addresses, hours and confirmed policies, is in the Colorado Springs dog boarding directory. The Colorado Springs hub covers leash rules, the Garden of the Gods dog run and nearby trails.

Dog Boarding in Colorado Springs: common questions

What does boarding cost in Colorado Springs?

Published rates in October 2026 run roughly $50 to $60 a night for a standard run or cabin and $75 to $80 for a larger kennel or suite. Camp Bow Wow Colorado Springs North adds a $6 per dog per night seasonal surcharge on peak dates. The providers you are matched with set their own prices.

Do Colorado Springs kennels require the leptospirosis vaccine?

Some do. Mountain Dogs requires rabies, Bordetella, distemper, parvo and leptospirosis; most others require the first four and recommend lepto. Ask each kennel that replies, and allow time if your dog needs a booster.

Is there a kennel near the Colorado Springs Airport?

The Dog Stop on Newport Road and 4 Paws Country Kennels on the south side are both close to COS. Weekend hours differ, so check pickup windows against your return flight before you book.

Can I board two dogs together in the Springs?

Yes at most facilities. A Paw Above offers double runs, Camp Bow Wow prices a second dog sharing a cabin, and Black Forest Dog Resort's Big Room takes a whole family at a flat rate. Say how many dogs on the form so the quotes reflect it.

Will you give me a price yourself?

No. Colorado Outdoor Dogs is a directory, not a kennel. We pass your request to independent Colorado Springs boarding businesses, who quote you directly and may pay us a referral fee if you book.
