The 2.6-mile concrete loop around Denver's biggest lake is a west-side staple for dog walkers, with mountain views the whole way around and a steady breeze off the water. There is almost no shade and no elevation change, so it is a cool-morning or winter route in summer heat. Dogs must stay leashed and out of the water under Denver's park rules (the lake is a working reservoir with boat traffic). Expect strollers, runners and cyclists; the path is wide enough that a leash-reactive dog can keep a buffer. Pair it with a patio in Edgewater or the Highlands afterward.
